Psychotherapy process researcher and personality disorder specialist studying what actually changes — and why — in the treatment of complex, chronic psychological difficulties.
Dr. Ueli Kramer is a Professor at the University of Lausanne and directs the University Institute of Psychotherapy. His research examines the mechanisms of psychotherapeutic change, with a particular focus on personality disorders and the processes that underlie treatment response in clients who present with complex, chronic difficulties. He is interested in how moment-to-moment experiences in therapy — emotional processing, self-reflection, interpersonal perception — translate into lasting change outside the consulting room.
Dr. Kramer has developed and evaluated several treatment approaches for personality disorders, contributing both to their conceptual foundations and their empirical validation. He has published extensively in European and international journals and has collaborated with researchers across Switzerland, France, and North America. His work brings together psychotherapy process research, clinical psychology, and psychopathology in a way that is grounded in the real-world complexities of treating personality disorder.
