Architect of the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) and key developer of the DSM-5's Alternative Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD).
Dr. Robert Krueger is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Minnesota and one of the most influential figures in the science of psychopathology structure and personality disorders. He is a co-developer of the Alternative Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD) included in DSM-5 Section III, and one of the principal architects of the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) — a comprehensive, empirically-derived alternative to traditional categorical diagnosis that organizes mental disorders by their relationships and shared underlying dimensions.
Dr. Krueger's work has been transformative for the field, offering a framework that better reflects the actual covariation among mental disorders and promises more clinically informative assessments. He is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and has received multiple major awards recognizing his contributions to personality research and psychopathology.
