Dr. Pim Cuijpers is a psychologist and Emeritus Professor of Clinical Psychology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam whose research has had a major impact on the study of depression, anxiety, and other common mental disorders. He is especially known for large-scale meta-analyses, randomized trials, and work on prevention, psychotherapy, and digital mental health interventions — helping clarify which treatments work, for whom, and at what intensity.
His scholarship is exceptionally influential, with more than 185,000 citations on Google Scholar. In 2024, he received the American Psychological Association's Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Applied Research, becoming the first European to receive it. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, and directs the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Dissemination of Psychological Interventions in Amsterdam.
