About Dr. Nadya Fouad

Dr. Nadya Fouad is a Professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Board Certified Counseling Psychologist. Her research focuses on vocational psychology and career development, with particular emphasis on the cultural factors that shape how people — especially women from diverse backgrounds — make work-related decisions, experience career barriers, and navigate professional environments.

She is a past president of APA Division 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) and has received the Leona Tyler Award, the highest honor in counseling psychology. Dr. Fouad has published more than 100 articles and chapters, and her work has had lasting influence on how the field conceptualizes the intersection of culture, identity, and career. She has been especially important in expanding vocational theory to account for systemic barriers and the diverse lived experiences of people historically underrepresented in research.
