Dr. David H. Barlow is Professor Emeritus at Boston University. He has authored more than 650 journal articles and chapters and over 90 books and clinical manuals, especially in the areas of anxiety, emotional disorders, evidence-based interventions, and clinical research methods.
He is best known for pioneering work on the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of anxiety disorders — including conceptual models of generalized anxiety and panic, and the development of the Unified Protocol for transdiagnostic treatment of emotional disorders. He has served on the DSM-IV Task Force, led the Center for Anxiety & Related Disorders, and held leadership roles in the APA and the Association for Behavioral & Cognitive Therapies.
His honors include the APA Distinguished Scientific Award, the Cattell Fellow Award, an APA Presidential Citation, the American Psychological Foundation's Life Achievement Award, and the Wellner Lifetime Achievement Award for Research.
