About Dr. Antonio Pascual-Leone

Dr. Antonio Pascual-Leone is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Windsor, where his research focuses on emotional change processes in psychotherapy. His work examines how people engage with, process, and ultimately resolve difficult emotional experiences during treatment — particularly within emotion-focused therapy (EFT). He has developed influential models of emotional processing that explain what happens at the level of in-session experience when clients undergo meaningful change.

Dr. Pascual-Leone bridges experimental and clinical methods with unusual skill, combining task-analytic and process-outcome approaches to map the steps through which distressing emotional experiences transform into resolution and growth. He has published extensively on the mechanisms of change in EFT and other experiential approaches, trained clinicians and researchers internationally, and received funding from national granting agencies for his work. His research offers therapists a research-grounded roadmap for facilitating the emotional depth that leads to lasting change.
